Gadadhara Pandita Appearance Day
(Govindaji Gardens - April 27, 2006)
Gadadhara Pandita was born on Amavasya (the dark moon night). He represents the most submissive aspect of Srimati Radharani. Those with the divine eye consider Gadadhara Pandita to be the topmost devotee of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's vision is beyond just His time. He didn't come just for His time. An avatara does things for long lasting value. For example, Caitanya Mahaprabhu spread the yuga-dharma and He took sannyasa for the preaching mission. This has a meaning, a value. It is better to take sannyasa when one is young so one can do some preaching, not when old! The sannyasi's duty is to preach against sex life.

There are two types of Vaisnavas. 1-Fanatical and literal — risks being too dogmatic. 2-More understanding — risks liberality and sahajiaism.

Some say Nityananda took pakka sannyasa but Bhaktisiddhanta said no. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu wanted to regulate Nityananda, who was an avadhuta, so He requested Nityananda to marry. This idea of Nityananda being a sannyasi is totally planing into the hands of the sahajiyas.

Don't try to see the deeper meaning of everything. This fast track of liberality will take you out of the grace of truth and lead to speculation. The worst problem is that you will get inspiration to live in a fools paradise. Once you get out of the guiding grace, maya is there to encourage you. So the sahajiyas are fired up, but they have defects.

Very nice class. Clear but some noise interference.

Gaura Purnima
(Govindaji Gardens - March 14, 2006)
When Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared about 520 years ago, the Holy Name also appeared with Him. Previously the Holy Name was hidden in the Vedas. Mahaprabhu has appeared along with His topmost devotee in one form.

Krsna consciousness is a science — that of understanding everything. The world is not random, but we are programmed by advertisements. The corporate world is influencing us. Only in the spiritual world do we have real freedom.

Consciousness sustains this world but it is not independent of Parabrahman, the Superconsciousness of the Lord. Here lies the personality aspect of the truth.

When the church was burning people alive 300 years ago for thinking about flying, they were thinking about interplanetary flight in India. You could even be put to death for thinking that the earth orbited the sun.

Krsna consciousness is not about economics or politics, nor is it for old age. It is for now. It offers detailed information of that other world (spiritual) and how we can get there.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared for His own internal reasons and to spread the Holy Name. The Holy Name does not discriminate, it benefits all. We must also propagate the Holy Name and become selfless in the process. Krsna consciousness is not a matter of life or death. It is more important than that.

Faith is an act of greater intelligence. It is an act of experience. And once you cross the line of experience in Krsna consciousness, you can never go back — you are Krsna's. Krsna is a very affectionate master, so put Him first.

Every bad thing in this world is due to the lack of Krsna consciousness. We are custodians of this world, not enjoyers.

Nityananda Trayodasi
(Govindaji Gardens - February 21, 2005)
Our year begins with the appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Before He appears a number of His associates also appear, such as Advaita Acarya and Nityananda Prabhu. When Bhagavan comes He comes with a big entourage, not alone, as we find so many bogus incarnations coming alone. The knowledge of our eternal relationship with Krsna, our servitude to Him is already there in a natural state.

Mahaprabhu is not an incarnation, He is Krsna Himself. The difference is that He is tinged with magnaminity or audarya whereas Vrndavana Krsna is not. Lord Nityananda is the most merciful and Lord Caitanya is the most generous through His distribution of the Holy Name of Krsna. Anyone can join the sankirtan movement of Lord Caitanya, but it is not as generous in Krsna lila.

Through our faith, sraddha, we get close to our guardians, not by knowledge. And the most important faith is faith in the words of guru. We are not of the group that tries to outdo our guru, to do one better than our guru.

Sraddha and saranagati (surrender) are all that are required to make advancement in Krsna consciousness. Our Srila Prabhupada was empowered by Lord Nityananda to perform activities beyond human capacity.

Installation Talk for Lord Jagannatha & Gaura-Gadadhara
(Govindaji Gardens - January 25, 2005)
When Lord Jagannatha is worshipped without Balarama & Subhadra He is Patita-pavana, the deliverer of the fallen. He was the principal Deity of Bhaktivinoda Thakura's ancestors for four hundred years. The worship of Lord Jagannatha along with Gaura-Gadadhara represents a very special conception. We may see Lord Jagannatha as Dvarkadisa Krsna in a particular mood of ecstacy in remembering Vrndavana. Then there is the wonderful story of Lord Jagannatha inciting his pure devotee Mukunda to steal jackfruits and getting caught.

If you do not understand Gaura-Gadadhara you cannot understand Radha-Krsna. Gadadhara is categorically the greatest devotee of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

The reaction to the early Christian's criticisms of Lord Jagannatha (and the coining of the word Juggernaut: a relentless force which crushes all in it's path) is that now Rathayatra and Lord Jagannatha have come to all those Christian countries. Lord Jagannatha and Lord Caitanya's pastimes in Puri are most esoteric and extraordinary...

What is wrong with that mantra? (Govindaji Gardens - Unknown date)
Nitai-Gaura Radhe-Shyma, japa... Their idea is that Srimati Radharani is Lord Nityananda. The improper conception of a mantra brings a bad taste. According to ones' conception, the mantra will take you in that direction. If we have no conception of what we are doing or what is our goal we will not go far. Hearing of Krsna's killing of a particular demon helps remove the corresponding anartha from our heart. You may even see the pure devotee cross over scripture, but you cannot imitate them. If we interfere with anyone's advancement we will get a heavy reaction. Initiation means little without a service connection. One needs a living representative to catch the spirit. The erroneous teachings of the sahajiyas. Do not approach Krishna-lila for our enjoyment. Srila Prabhupada was empowered by Nityananda Prabhu.

Srila Sridhara Maharaja Tirubhava. (Govindaji Gardens - July 17, 2004
Glorifying the Vaisnavas brings one the greatest benefit. All suffering in the world is due to not knowing who you are (servant of God). We praise the great devotees but this does not mean we can treat the ordinary devotees roughly. Without association of devotees our creeper will not grow properly. The last section of the lecture is about the wealth of Srila Sridhara Maharaja. (Added online on 15 Jan. 2005)

Questions & Answers (Govindaji Gardens - December 25, 2003)
*Why is the advent of Mahaprabhu not mentioned directly in the sastras?
*Why did Srila Prabhupada write Krsna Book when it is not advised for neophytes to read the 10th Canto of Bhagavatam?
* What is the difference between jnana-misra bhakti and jnana-purvaka-bhakti?
• What is siddha-pranali?

Srila Narasingha Maharaja answers these questions and many more in this class.

Gaura Purnima. (Govindaji Gardens - March 18, 2003)
The appearance of Lord Chaitanya. The Lord is always sinless even when apparently engaging in sinful activities. He does not come with karma to this world. He appears with His entourage (parshadas). According to the intensity of our love for the Lord we become more free with the Lord to relish more intimate rasas.

Authorized scriptures give advice that will save us from being cheated. Many small-minded philosophies propound conceptions of going to hell forever, only humans have souls, have a low estimation of life, etc. By chanting Hare Krsna we can do good to all.

If one wishes to go against Krsna, He may give them a big brain so they can find faults, but in the end they will be defeated by death.

The Prominent Link (Saranagati, B.C. - August 3, 2003)
Everything must be received by the descending process. The good will that comes with that is all important for success. Sentiment cannot omit the established process; it cannot obstruct the descent of divinity. Many questions cannot be answered from the books. In fact there is no Krsna consciousness with only the books. The kanistha adhikari only sees Krsna in the Deity and the guru. The madhyama adhikari sees Krsna in the Vaisnavas.

Srila Prabhupada Avirbhava. (Govindaji Gardens - August 23, 2003)
Who is a real guru? Guru means that he says Krsna is Bhagavan, not that he claims to be Bhagavan. Real guru teaches how to serve Krsna. To meet guru is a very rare thing. By service our eyes are opened to see guru. The process is not complete until we go deeper and really understand who he is in reality. Guru is a servant not an enjoyer or exploiter.

Prema is the goal and when we have prema we will have unlimited energy to serve. God gives us something that money can't buy. He fulfills all desires and saves us from calamities.

The qualifications of a pure devotee. Humility is the crown jewel of a Vaisnava — it attracts Krsna. Our sincerity will save us, so let it be our guide. Don't be a self deceiver and forget why we have come to the path of devotional service.

Sambandha, Abhidheya and Prayojana. (Govindaji Gardens - July 27, 2002)
Sri Sanatana Goswami is the acarya of sambandha, the process of understanding our relationship with Lord Krsna. The soul is a unit of dedicated consciousness which must become fixed in making progress. Sri Rupa Goswami, the acarya of abhidheya, reveals how to execute devotional service. We must try to serve Krsna, not enjoy Him. Our prayojana acarya, Sri Raghunatha Dasa Goswami shows us Radha-dasyam, the service of Sri Radha (the highest aspiration of a Gaudiya Vaisnava).

Our wandering in maya from body to body is stopped when we find guru. There are different gradations of guru, but Krsna must be within. A pure devotee can never fall down, even from the spiritual world. In Goloka there are many Prabhupadas. To enter there we must be pure, so we can't take our dirty baggage there.

Disappearance of Haridasa Thakura (Bangalore - September 20, 2002)
Haridasa Thakura is the personification of devotion. First become a pure devotee then after some time we may experience what is love of Krsna, gradually as we undergo purification. When we satisfy Krsna with pure devotion then we will understand and experience what is prema. The perfection of our life is to serve the higher group of devotees. When we are fit for eternal life, then we will get eternal life. Full surrender and only full surrender is the path to satisfying Krsna. All for Krsna, nothing for me. All the things we keep inside disqualify us from going to Krsna. After so many lifetimes, once coming to the point of diksa we should complete the process of Krsna consciousness.

Srila Puri Maharaja Avirbhava. (Govindaji Gardens - October 10, 2002)
The real meaning of Rathayatra is the returning of Lord Jagannatha to Vrndavana. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu spent the last 12 years of his life in Puri experiencing intense feelings of separation from Krsna (vipralambha). The great wealth of the maha-bhagavatas are their qualities. By serving the great souls we may imbibe some of their great qualities. In their association our soul comes to its own true existence — always absorbed in the service and mellows of Krsna. Many came to Srila Puri Maharaja for inspiration, the personification of humility and earnest chanting of the Holy Name.

Srila Sridhara Maharaja Avirbhava. (Govindaji Gardens - October 30, 2002)
In this world all are envious of Krsna, so have foregone the serving tendency. But the Vaisnavas do not do the work of this world, they do Krsna's work. Our worst danger is that we misuse our life. If you don't feel a pinch from a donation then Krsna doesn't notice it either.

Gaura Purnima. (Govindaji Gardens - March 9, 2001)
The hidden avatara of Kali-yuga (Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu) appears as a devotee to fulfill two purposes. The first purpose is to spread nama-sankritana. Mahaprabhu: Maha means mahabhava (Radharani) and prabhu means Krsna. The Gaura avatara is the avatara of avataras. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's last 12 years were spent in the mood of Radharani.

Class from Follow the Angels. (Govindaji Gardens - March 21, 2001)
From adau sraddha to prema, faith guides us to saranagati (surrender). We must recognize our own self-deception before we can really surrender to Krsna. Our independence spoils the mood of surrender. Sacrifice is our greatest wealth. Become the slave of the slave. Our whole life is meant to come to the point of saranagati.

Bhag. 1.2.5 — What is the Goal? (Vermont - Dec. 19, 2001)
This material world is not created as a place of enjoyment. Engaging in devotional service while maintaining impurities is not pleasing to Krsna. All that we do is simply to awaken a feeling of prema within our heart. Ramananda Raya and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu discuss the goal of life. Radharani's beauty enhances Krsna's beauty, which enhances Her beauty.
